What dog food should I avoid feeding my dogs because of the food contamination?
My dogs eat the Ol' Roy dry dog food from those big bags, and it seems fine. But when this bag is all used up, is it okay to buy the same thing?
I just want to know what brands are contaminated and to avoid getting.
Thanks.
Don't feed them anything with wheat gluten in it.
Though it was mainly canned food that was recalled, they are now recalling some dry brands and treats as well.
Ol' Roy was on the list, so I would suggest buying something else just to be safe..

Here is a list of all the dog foods recalled…
Americas Choice, Preferred Pets; Authority, Award, Best Choice, Big Bet, Big Red, Bloom, Wegmans Bruiser, Cadillac, Companion, Demoulas Market Basket, Eukanuba, Food Lion, Giant Companion, Great Choice, Hannaford, Hill Country Fare, Hy-Vee, Iams, Laura Lynn, Loving Meals, Meijer's Main Choice, Mighty Dog Pouch, Mixables, Nutriplan, Nutro Max, Nutro Natural Choice, Nutro Ultra, Nutro, Ol' Roy Canada, Ol' Roy U.S., Paws, Pet Essentials, Pet Pride Good 'n Meaty, President's Choice, Price Chopper, Priority Canada, Priority U.S., Publix, Roche Brothers, Save-A-Lot, Schnucks, Shep Dog, Springfield Prize, Sprout, Stater Brothers, Stop & Shop Companion, Tops Companion, Weis Total Pet, Western Family U.S., White Rose, Winn Dixie and Your Pet.
Most of these recalled dog foods are "wet" foods.
Ol' Roy is on the dog food recall list, only for Canada though.
Just a suggestion. Ol' Roy has a lot of "bad" ingredients for dogs. I would recomend feeding him Natural Balance. Ol' Roy is Wall mart brand and has corn and wheat ingredients in it…..

Lots of Ol' Roy dog treats have recently been recalled. So far, not their dry food, but I'd be wary about feeding my dogs anything with wheat or wheat gluten product especially from a brand name that had lots of recalled product, until FDA and investigators can defintively say what is harming pets.
Here's a few sites I check frequently for updates, and btw, lots of Ol' Roy treats have been in some of the more recent recalls.

The AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) is keeping updated information about the recall posted on their website.

I feed my dogs Nature's Recipe, it doesn't hurt to switch, it doesn't contain any soy [bad, contains aluminum from processing], wheat, gluten or other by products & is manufactured in the USA. It is a venison & rice blend. Nearly all the foods contain this, I don't trust buying those on the list. Type in "dog food recall" in your search engine & you will get the list, I don't trust the FDA either, they are for big business profits rather than the health of our animals, then they try to turn out to be the heros, look how many people have died from the drug Vioxx, over 10,000, that was approved by the FDA, you would think the pet food industries would quit putting diseased animal parts in their foods. They rather eat our food, & we have switched to organic, I also give them vitamin supplements, glucosamine for their joints & glutamine to keep their muscles strong, they are a large breed, as in the processing of any food neutrients are depleted. I hope this helps. It is a sad day for alot of people when they loose their pet, if you run out of their food try the Nature's Recipe, or boil brown rice & ground beef together or separate, yes, boil the ground meat, this stops any diarhrea, [spell check won't work] too & is a nice change from the norm, organic if finances allow it. Green beans are also filling for them & are reasonably inexpensive, they lose weight on green beans, toss in some bacon grease! Yummy! I love it when I see them smile! You can also take the remaining bag back to the store, & get a credit for another brand.

I found your statement to be very vague. The comments made on the forum were from visitors to the site who wanted to respond to my blog post. In my post I suggested reading the label on the dog food and making sure that chicken or beef be in the first spot of ingredients. The only comment I made about contaminated dog food is that human foods have more of a chance to be contaminated. I appreciate any and all comments from visitors.
